Julie and I send you our love and a big hug from Colombia. We are greatly encouraged by the words of Paul in Philippians 1:19,“For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.” We can’t thank you enough for your prayers. We feel the strength and power they provide. We notice the difference they make in our lives and in the mission here. We give God the honor and glory for our Launch Pad school of ministry that is now up and running! We want to say thank you for your help.
We are now preparing for our first citywide Evangelistic campaign of 2017 to be held March 31st-April 2nd. We are reaching out to the city of La Union. You may have heard of it in the news last fall. Seventy-one members of the Chapecoense soccer team from Brazil tragically died when their charter jet ran out of fuel crashing into the mountain outside of town.
La Union, which has roughly 28,000 inhabitants, is truly a lost and hurting place. For many years her people suffered violence and atrocities from both the guerrilla and paramilitaries. Peace has slowly progressed the last ten years and it’s now safe enough for this kind of endeavor. The main plaza is surrounded by dingy bars and the next street over is lined with brothels. Pastor Renso tells me that there has never been a gospel event like this in La Union. We have obtained a permit for the largest venue in town, which is the coliseum. It’s really a large double court gymnasium with a few bleachers but the Mayor is letting us have it free of charge. We will have to bring in chairs. It is time to lift up Jesus and let the healing and restoration begin. We start training our teams this weekend. La Union needs to see Jesus and know His love and mercy.
