Julie and I send you our greetings from beautiful Colombia.
We are in our third week of extended revival meetings at Iglesia Buenas Noticias, in Medellin. I reconnected with an old friend, pastor Carlos, who invited me spur of the moment to preach his Sunday service on February 16th. I shared a message entitled, “Don’t Be Spiritually Handicapped”, concerning the need for the fullness of the Holy Spirit in our lives. First off, at an 8 am leaders meeting, eleven leaders were baptized in Holy Spirit. The main service lasted from 10 am to 2 pm. More than 50% of the congregation received the Father’s gift to His children, the gift of the Holy Spirit. Luke 11:13, “If you being carnal know how to give good gifts to your children how much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him”!
This sparked a revival in the church. Every service since, people are coming and being saved and filled with Holy Spirit. Jesus has healed many people of things including, deafness and paralysis from a stroke. All glory to Jesus the Lord God almighty, revival is a divine interruption! Pastor Carlos and his team have shifted the church calendar and planned events to host this visitation. He taught the people that we have two kinds of time, chronos and kairos. Chronos is the time we measure with the calendar and the clock. That which we plan by. Kairos, is God’s specific or perfect time to accomplish a certain thing. When Jesus comes and manifests Himself in a visitation to revive His church, our chronos must yield and submit to His kairos. It was a brilliant explanation of what happens in a true revival.
I met Carlos 17 years ago in Sincelejo, Sucre. Then a revival broke out in his church and I was with them for two months. We saw the majority of members of two violent gangs saved and leave the gangs for Jesus and church. The major narcotics trafficker who they worked for came to the church to stop the bleeding of his forces. Shortly, he was weeping and trembling down front. Washed in the blood! All the teenagers in the church would come at 6m to intercede before going to school. Some even skipped school to pray until noon. I skipped a lot of high school in my days but never to pray for souls. Kairos vs chronos!
Most years during the Easter season, we endeavor to conduct a major soul winning campaign. This year, on March 18-25 we will reach out in six principal cities here in the Valley of San Nicolas. Coming to help us, is a team of 18 Bible students from Life Bible College, in Boise Idaho. We will have members of the church here helping as well. There will be a team of 25 to 30 evangelizing all day, in each city, to then conduct the special Gospel meeting at night. We will be working with a different church in each city and therefore have a spiritual home for the newborns in Christ. We will saturate the city with publicity and also promote the local church. We pray that Jesus will once again receive the reward of His suffering during this Easter season.
What better way to honor Jesus, during the Easter season, than to bring into His arms precious souls that were paid for in His own blood, when He stretched out those arms on the cross for you and I. We invite you to be together with us, heart and soul, to celebrate Easter in this way. Consider keeping this effort in your prayers. It is called, “Cristo Te Ama el Oriente Antioquia”. Which translates, “Jesus loves the east of Antioquia”. Rionegro, one of the cities being reached, is the birthplace of the nation and then much later, that of Pablo Escobar. My prayer now, is that Rionegro will be the birthplace of a mighty revival that will wash Colombia in the blood of Jesus. I know of no greater way to honor and thank Jesus.
Julie and I thank you with all our hearts for being with us in this harvest field of souls.
Much Love,
Charley & Julie
